Riding the outstanding pitching of seniors A.J.Vanegas and Michael Giltner, the Eagles posted two wins against defending League Champion Head Royce.  Last year Redwood and Head Royce squared off three times with the Eagles dropping 2 of 3 to Head Royce with each game being decided by one run.  The two wins puts the Varsity Baseball Team in a commanding position up two games with four to play to win its first BCL-East Title.

Friday's game matched up two of the best pitcher's in the East Bay. A.J. Vanegas firing a one hitter against Spencer Linney (H.R.) who pitched well also allowing just two runs over 6 innings.  The only run allowed by Vanegas came when a pop-up was dropped with two outs allowing a runner from 2nd base to score.  Vanegas was dominate throughout posting 13 K's for the complete game victory.  Offensively Jonathan Posey had a strong day at the plate scoring two runs while blasting a triple and a home run.

On Tuesday 5/4 Michael Giltner pitched a strong six innings allowing 0 earned runs.   The game featured a two out 4 run rally to give the Eagles an early 5-0 lead in the fourth inning.  Josh Hutchinson had a strong day at the plate going 3 for 3 with an R.B.I.  Also A.J. Vanegas; and Eric McPherson each had two run R.B.I. singles in the game.  A. J. Vanegas came in to earn the save putting down a rally with 2 on an 0 out in the top of the 7th.
