The Eagles completed their first undefeated league season since 1977 and secured their first ever BCL-East Championship. The league title was the first since 2002 when the Eagles wer Co-Champs in the P.S.A.L. The outright championship was also the first since the 1977 season.
On Friday 5/14 Redwood defeated league rival Valley Christian 6-1 behind the dominate pitching performance of Stanford Bound A.J. Vanegas. Vanegas posted 15 strikeouts in the complete game performance. The win eliminated Valley Christian from contention for the league title. Vanegas was also 3 for 3 on the day with 2 R.B.I. Also having 3 hit days were Jonathan Posey and Josh Montenegro. Montenegro put the Eagles ahead in the third inning with a two run double.
On Tuesday Night in the rematch against Valley Michael Giltner provided outstanding pitching, scattering 6 hits over 6 and 2/3 while collecting 12 strikeouts. The Eagles scored all of their runs in the third inning with a 5 run rally. In the inning Michael Giltner; Eric McPherson; Josh Montenegro and Jonathan Posey all had R.B.I.'s
Redwood Christian finishes the regular season with a 19-5 record and a 10-0 mark in the BCL-East. The Eagles will await their playoff seeding on Sunday May 22.
